Journey 1995

Journey
The pool awaits the uncertain traveller
Clear and clean, in the middle of life's glen
Isolated, alone, perfect, ferns and coolness
An image of the soul of man deep in silence
Perfect central in the forest out of time
Weary, life's burdens weigh the old young man
Far away there is a town, how can he get there
Go in! Go in! cries the voice within - Die now!
It will be all right. Death is birth
In with resolve, slowly at first he travels
Then swift the pull, faster faster, swift and strong
Struggle, struggle, give it up, too strong the flow
Over the falls, down the crystal mountain with certain rush
So fast through the town, water brown, foulness, man
Pass all that, helpless, overwhelmed, borne on, borne on
Weak and tired by the turbulence of life
The river broadens and the pull subsides
Calm, inexorable, so wide the stream, serene
Clear and clean, tranquil in the country, untouched
Untroubled nature abounds, surrounds with gentle glory
Ah, there's the bar where sea meets sky. I die.
There's the ocean boundless and forever. So blue
Finally across the frontier, softly gliding
Into the harbour of another life
The change. A dolphin I am, strong and free
The slow metamorphosis overcame me and made me
So free that unison and harmony possess me
One with my fellows, we glide and turn.
A symphony of thought possesses my soul
My spirit soars as my body glides
In and out of the waves in the boundless sea
How different from the man that dies
Is the sound, sure, player on the waves
